FAQS
Do I have to be a Mason to live at Masonic Pathways?
No. Any qualifying person may live at Masonic Pathways. However, current Michigan Masons with ten or more year of continuous membership, their wives widows and mothers, and current female members of a Michigan chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star with ten or more years of continuous membership, do receive discounted rates and priority on any external waiting lists.
Do I have to turn over all my assets to live at Masonic Pathways?
No. Masonic Pathways does not require you to turn over your assets. Residents pay a daily or monthly rate in return for services received. All prospective residents are strongly encouraged to assess their assets and income prior to making a move to Masonic Pathways in order to ensure that they are able to meet their financial obligations at the time of admission and into the future. Michigan Masons and their wives widows and mothers, along with female members of the Order of the Eastern Star, may be eligible for financial assistance from the Michigan Masonic Home Charitable Foundation.
Is Masonic Pathways affiliated with any other Masonic Homes?
Masonic Pathways is not formally affiliated with any other Masonic Home and currently is the only retirement community in the state of Michigan that is affiliated with the Michigan Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. Masonic affiliated retirement communities across the United States and Canada do, however, maintain a professional organization known as Masonic Homes Executive Association of North America (MHEANA) which meets regularly to share ideas and support for one another.

What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community?
Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) are age-restricted properties that include a combination of independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing services (or independent living and skilled nursing) available to residents all on one campus. Non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Communities like Masonic Pathways deliver a level of service, flexibility, and security that stand-alone senior housing and assisted living communities do not. That's because, in addition to providing a wide array of services to meet your current needs, non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Communities offer additional services and residency options (like medication distribution or skilled nursing services) in case your needs ever increase. CCRCs also provide a unique option for couples since, even in cases where the two can't share a room (such as when one person needs 24-hour nursing care and the other does not) they are still able to spend their days together without having to drive to another community.
How many people live at Masonic Pathways?
Roughly 425-450 people live at Masonic Pathways.
What is the ratio of staff to residents at Masonic Pathways?
In the Jack F. Sanders Health Care Center, the ratio of nursing staff is 8 staff to 45 residents for both the day and afternoon shift. That is comprised of 2 licensed nurses and 6 certified nursing assistants (CNAs) for every 45 residents. Additionally, a full-time Social Worker and a full-time Recreational Activities staff member are assigned to each 45-bed unit. The midnight shift staffs 1 licensed nurse and 4 CNAs for 45 residents. In addition to any LPNs on-duty, at least one Registered Nurse is on-duty at Masonic Pathways at all times.
